Engagement Refund Policy

This page summarises my general approach to cancellations and refunds for consulting engagements. The binding terms for any specific engagement are in the signed contract for that engagement.
1. Before work begins
If you cancel before any work has started — typically before the kickoff meeting — any advance payment is refunded in full within 7 working days.
2. After work begins, before delivery
If you cancel after work has started but before the first major deliverable, you are charged proportionally for the work completed to date, with a minimum retainer of 30% of the contract value. The balance, if any, is refunded within 7 working days.
3. After deliverables are accepted
Once a deliverable has been formally signed off and accepted, that portion of the engagement is non-refundable. Subsequent phases remain cancellable per clause 2.
4. Quality concerns
If you're unhappy with the work — pace, depth, fit — raise it directly with me. I would much rather rework the engagement to your satisfaction than fight over an invoice. Most issues get resolved in a single conversation.
5. How to request a refund
Email contact@example.com with the engagement reference. Approved refunds are processed back to the original payment method within 7–10 working days.
